Getting started

Moving rental records out of spreadsheets

Prepare your property list, opening balances and transaction files before your first import.

Choose a starting point

Keep a backup of your existing files and choose the date from which you will keep the new books. Use the same starting date for each account so the transition is easier to review.

Create the rental structure

Set up your portfolio, properties, units and accounts first. Give them names you recognize from your old records. Review the rental chart of accounts before adding custom categories.

Prepare the transactions

Use supported bank exports or the CSV/XLSX template. Keep dates, descriptions and signed amounts consistent. Test a small file and inspect the feed before importing the rest of the period.

Compare the results

Review opening balances and compare report totals to your old records. Investigate differences rather than entering a balancing amount without an explanation. Keep your old files as part of the transition record.

Keep your next step simple.

Use the product guide for the app workflow, or contact support with your question. Bookkeeping reports are not tax advice; review filing decisions with a qualified professional.
